Heavily pregnant Inspector Alex Enders is kidnapped. When she regains consciousness, she has no memory of the last six days, and her baby is missing.

The investigation into the murder of a Romanian prostitute ultimately leads the police to evidence linking a known offender to the crime. The case is closed, but something about it is troubling Alex.

Alex suspects Radu Motrescu, CEO of a fertility agency, of interfering with her investigation. She finds herself on the trail of Anna Winter, a woman whose daughter went missing after dealing with Montrescu.

While at a crime scene, Alex finds a clue as to where she was held captive. She is convinced that the victim was involved in her abduction. If she can find his killer, perhaps she’ll find her baby.

Alex discovers another link in the case, but Nowak suspends her for violating job regulations and no one believes her anymore. Alex finds herself truly alone.
