Early in-person voting started Thursday in the battleground state of North Carolina, a reminder that Election Day is just around the corner. Both candidates are trying to broaden their appeal to different groups of voters in these crucial final days. Lisa Desjardins reports.

It has been nearly three weeks since Hurricane Helene began its devastating march across the Southeast, killing at least 230 people in six states. The storm’s most destructive impact was in western North Carolina, where entire communities were swept away and search crews continue to hunt for people who are still unaccounted for.
